Robert H. Smith

The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. Now is the only time you own. Live, love, toil with will. Place no faith in time. For the clock may soon be still.

You and me

It's been sometime since I have written. It’s probably because I am too comfortable with my current life now. Taking a breather means so much these days.

With some spare time on my hand, I recently volunteered at the grassroots of my housing estate. There is a official monthly meeting, reporting anything of the neighbourhood – from crimes to finances. Apart from subsidies and reaching out to the poor and needy, our committee also organise ad-hoc events to bring people together and relive the old kampong spirit.

One volunteer at the grassroots center impresses me - She is a 34 year old female caretaker earns only a few hundred bucks every month from baby-sitting her relative's children. Perhaps one could even consider her as a needy - as long as she had the energy and the capacity to help others, she would. What little financial wealth she has is irrelevant, her big heart and helping hand has made the lives of the people around her easier and better.

And then when I watched the video of the late Dr Richard Teo (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umLkfADe17s) sharing his thoughts on life, wealth, success and happiness, I saw him like no other human beings.

All humans are greedy, selfish and lazy, to varying extents. It’s the ability and the willingness to control these vices inherent in us that differentiates us from one another.

What I do applaud Richard is his courage to face up to his own deeds and his choice to sacrifice his remaining precious time to guide others away from his footsteps.

Let's take a brief moment to remember the good people whom you have come across in your life and bless them wherever they are from here.

"Our pride, our joy, our children"

Many flags are hung all around the neighbourhood.
Everyone is waiting for the exciting programme during the national day celebration tonight.
It was not too long ago that I was saying the pledge and singing the national anthem in my school field.
Each year, hearing the pledge and the new national theme song struck me of how far we had come.

Today we have more foreigners from all over getting our citizenships.
Us singaporeans we take it with an open heart, embracing the international culture.
Over the years, we see our pure Singaporean population dwindling.
Even so, we continue to yearn for olympic medals for Singapore.

We had high aspirations, refreshed hopes, new dreams.
Instead of building the foundation, and creating a pool of our own sportsmen.
Our government poach Chinese talents and adopt them as our own.
As proud of these altheletes as we may be for them,
We cringed at the fact that they are not Singaporean born.

Happy National Day Singapore!
Congratulations on your long awaited individual bronze medal.
Let's do more to make it really our own.

Blessed

smoothly it went all according to our plans
bitter gourds, durians and flour, followed on with flowers and a kiss on the lips
love and friendship filled the air, coupled with well wishes from everyone
wine champagne and music was in abundance amidst the happy laughter
it was magical as though a fairytale

venice, rome, florence, milan we went
along with the hot sun, we travelled mostly on foot, ferry and trains,
explored the venetians canals
hiked across the 5 villages of cinque terre,
but saw many countless museums including the david
vatican city is one of which impressed us most
awed by its beauty and rich history, we sunk into the past subconsciously.

as we travelled, we miss home at the same time.
thought about our beds, comfort food and sofa
thought about our mommy, papa and siblings
and many other trains of thoughts about our lifes onward together

for 2 weeks we ate pizza, pasta and bread
only on rare occasions do we get to feast on florentine steak
by the 10th day we got tired of their food and look hard for good Chinese dining.

finally we are back this day, tired and happy
biological clock not fully adjusted,
nonetheless, nothing beats being in our home.

1 week to being married!

Gosh, it is really more exciting that it appears. Choosing the date to the venue, the table menu, the photographer, the JP, the suitable makeup artist, nice wedding dress and matching bridal shoes. Everyday for the past month, I have not been sleeping well worrying about making these tiny decisions which adds up to the perfect occassion.

To plan everything to the last detail is one hell of a job but its all going to be worth it.

River Flows In You

Always loved the music from the piano. Pity I can't play for nuts, having failed grade 1 and 2.

Yiruma is really amazingly skilled in this aspect
Watch him at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhN7SG-H-3k

This song was featured inTwilight Saga - Breaking Dawn Part 1, when compared to the song is pale in comparison.
