The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. Now is the only time you own. Live, love, toil with will. Place no faith in time. For the clock may soon be still.

"Our pride, our joy, our children"

Many flags are hung all around the neighbourhood.
Everyone is waiting for the exciting programme during the national day celebration tonight.
It was not too long ago that I was saying the pledge and singing the national anthem in my school field.
Each year, hearing the pledge and the new national theme song struck me of how far we had come.

Today we have more foreigners from all over getting our citizenships.
Us singaporeans we take it with an open heart, embracing the international culture.
Over the years, we see our pure Singaporean population dwindling.
Even so, we continue to yearn for olympic medals for Singapore.

We had high aspirations, refreshed hopes, new dreams.
Instead of building the foundation, and creating a pool of our own sportsmen.
Our government poach Chinese talents and adopt them as our own.
As proud of these altheletes as we may be for them,
We cringed at the fact that they are not Singaporean born.

Happy National Day Singapore!
Congratulations on your long awaited individual bronze medal.
Let's do more to make it really our own.
